Campus Wayfinding Service

As part of the Smart Campus initiative, a native wayfinding mobile application, POLY:U:WAY together with kiosks, have been launched for staff and students as well as visitors to locate classrooms, theatres and buildings across campus. After selecting destination, POLY:U:WAY will show users the recommended route, distance, walking time, and street view on a PolyU look-alike map. Students can get to lecture or exam venue via the shortest route, while visitors unfamiliar with the campus environment can navigate the PolyU campus with ease. This app is also furnished with location-based news and notifications, and information on events / activities planned for the day on campus as well as location of venue for such events / activities. Department administrators who manage such information can leverage this service for promotional purposes.

PolyU Staff Mobile App

'PolyU Staff Mobile App' allows PolyU staff to instantly receive news and notices from departments and faculties. It also allows you to easily access common services from HRO, FO, UHS, and ITS. Department administrators can leverage this channel to distribute news and notices for staff.

PolyU Student Mobile App- PolyULife

PolyULife is a native mobile app, which facilitates students the access of essential information for study such as personal class and exam timetable, payment due date, study information and push notifications to support students’ studies at PolyU. Students can find a list of useful online resources to various student-related applications in this mobile app including classroom booking enquiry, eStudent, Library, PolyU Online Student Services (POSS), Scholarship, Job Board and etc.

Printing Services for the Workspace

Printing services for workspace includes desktop, networked, and Managed Print Service (MPS) printers to faculty and staff. Recommended Printers in Workspace Today’s multifunction printer (MFP) does more than print. It scans, sends and stores potentially sensitive information. Printers process documents created by users and business applications across the entire University on a daily basis. It is important to safeguard sensitive/confidential information and limit access on a need-to-know basis. To facilitate departments/ offices in selecting printing solution which is secure, environmental-friendly and economical, a standard guideline for multifunction printers has been jointly developed by ITS and Campus Facilities and Sustainability Office (CFSO). The guideline includes the PolyU printing standards to safeguard printing security and some turn-key printing solutions available for departments/offices. Virtual Assistant

Virtual Assistant

The virtual assistant has adopted open-sourced software Mycroft to provide web chat function and response displayed on departments/offices’ website. It aims to address enquiries from staff and students and point to information on user guides and web page links on topics & services on a 7 x 24 basis.    Based on chat history with staff and students, the virtual assistant will continue to expand the knowledge base to improve contextual sensitive response for enhancing its usability and readability over time.
